Program Overview
Gain Field Experience in Wildlife Conservation and Management
This 14-day course combines two of our most sought-after programs:
Wildlife Management and Conservation Field Experience
Strengthen your skills in habitat management, population monitoring, research and more. Participate in wildlife counts, research on species like giraffes, and learn critical topics like conservation genetics, sustainable tourism, and anti-poaching measures. You’ll work in the field , encountering diverse wildlife and contributing to real conservation efforts.
Wildlife Capture and Chemical Immobilization Course
Get hands-on training with wildlife during wildlife capture and learn dart gun handling, drug combinations, immobilization protocols, animal handling, and transportation techniques. You will also delve into telemetry, lab sample processing, predator protocols, and more. Gain the skills needed for conservation and wildlife management in South Africa.
Work with various wildlife species, such as impala, zebra, kudu, giraffe, and more. While we can’t guarantee working with larger species like lions or rhinos, opportunities occasionally arise during the course.

Drugs used for chemical immobilization and their effects

Drugs used for general clinical purposes and management in wildlife
Learn the different capture methods such as net capture, passive capture, mass helicopter capture, dart gun and more
Set up and prepare for captures
Approaching and handling immobilized animals
Administering injections to Immobilized animals
Monitoring Immobilized animals
Filling of darts
Telemetry demonstration and practice
Gun handling and principles. Shooting accurately, Dart Placement
Target practice
Assist in the Transportation of animals
Learn different drug combinations for the different animals

Weekends are free for you to explore the Eastern Cape’s breathtaking landscapes and cultural experiences. We offer assistance in arranging weekend activities, such as walking with elephants, Giraffe interactions, whale watching or hanging out on the beach!

If you wish to extend your stay in our accommodation or anywhere in the country to explore South Africa further before departing for your country, we are more than happy to arrange help you arrange it. We pride ourselves on being flexible and accommodating to ensure you have the most enriching experience possible!
Program Fees and Payment Information
The fee for the Wildlife Management and Conservation field experience covers everything you need for a comfortable and enriching experience. This includes:
-Accommodation (comfortable and well-equipped rooms)
-Meals during the week (delicious, local cuisine)
-Meals on weekends depends on your weekend activities
-WIFI (to stay connected)
-T-shirt
-Learning materials
-All transport (within the program, including to different game reserves)
-Airport transfers
The Comprehensive Wildlife experience for 2025 is priced at $2600 for one week. To secure your spot, a $150 booking fee is required (even if you are unsure of your exact dates yet).
The remaining program fee is split into two payments of $1300 and $1150 is due 6 weeks before your arrival. We are committed to accommodating your financial needs and making the payment process as flexible as possible. We use PayPal, Venmo and Zelle.
